Our analysis
Why this matters
Chiesi and Abdi İbrahim have signed a strategic cooperation agreement under which Abdi İbrahim takes exclusive rights to distribute and commercialize three Chiesi products in Türkiye: beclometasone dipropionate + formoterol fumarate (respiratory), deferiprone (rare disease) and poractant alfa (neonatology). The arrangement took effect on 1 October 2026, subject to completion of legal and operational steps.
Chiesi has operated in Türkiye for about 20 years. Handing established products to the country's largest domestic company is a familiar move for multinationals in a market where pharmaceutical prices are converted at an administratively set euro rate and margins on mature products are thin. A local leader with a large sales force can carry these brands at a lower cost per call than an affiliate.
