Our analysis
Why this matters
Kazakhstan's government has approved an investment agreement with Abdi Ibrahim Global Pharm LLP, the Kazakh subsidiary of Türkiye's Abdi İbrahim, worth KZT 39 billion. The project will produce 76 medicines in the Almaty region, including antivirals, type 2 diabetes drugs and anti-anaemia products, and is expected to create more than 150 jobs.
The product mix tracks Kazakhstan's public-health priorities: chronic disease and anti-infectives with large, predictable public demand. With 76 molecules, this is one of the broadest single localization portfolios approved in the country, and it confirms Abdi İbrahim's strategy of using Kazakhstan as its manufacturing hub for Central Asia.
