Our analysis

Why it matters

A regional first: localizing modern insulin. This is not a distribution licence; it's a tech-transfer to build MENA's first modern insulin-analogue manufacturing — glargine and aspart, covering long- and short-acting needs.

Julphar had already flagged (Oct 2022) its ambition to build the Middle East's first Glargine factory ; this deal supplies the product and know-how to do it. The demand case is stark: per the release, MENA has 73 million adults with diabetes (16.2% of adults) and a ~$33bn annual treatment cost, with the patient count expected to double in 20 years.
